Teacher Sabbatical & Short Term Leave requests

WCEA Teachers Sabbatical Leave-- Article 7.5 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement outlines the process and timeline for requesting a sabbatical leave for the purpose of enhancing your professional responsibilities, e.g. to teaching, to student learning; to programs, courses, or curriculum development; to retraining; or to an institution-specific project.

Short-Term Leave - Teachers pursuing their doctorate level degree will be provided with up to five (5) professional days to complete their dissertation. Please use the same application format as a sabbatical leave request.

Life Insurance

MVSU offers a $30,000 employer-sponsored life insurance policy to personnel who work at least 30 hours per week while employed in a member school district. Principals and administrators who work at least 30 hours per week receive a $100,000 employer-sponsored life insurance policy while engaged in a member school district. During initial enrollment and annually during open enrollment, you can purchase additional life insurance for yourself, your spouse, or your child(ren); late enrollees will need to complete an evidence of insurability form when enrolling after your initial enrollment opportunity.

Long Term Disability

Long term disability plans provide financial protection for you by paying a portion of your income while you are disabled. The amount you receive is based on the amount you earned before your disability began. In some cases, you can receive disability payments even if you work while you are disabled.
